Fresno State will host the CSU Summer Arts festival beginning Monday, July 2. The month will be filled with author readings, concerts, lectures, improv comedy and free student showcases. Spectrum Dance Theater, a dance company led by visionary Donald Byrd based out of Seattle, Washington, will perform at 7 p.m., July 2. An Evening of Comedy, an evening of laughter, satire, curiosity and snarkiness with comics from stage and screen, will begin at 7 p.m., July 7. A special pre-event reception will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., July 7, where guests can mix and mingle with the artists-in-residence artists of Summer Arts. Tickets for the reception are an additional $20 and must be purchased in advance. Stage Combat will detail the ins and outs of stage combat choreography and demonstrate how they make everything look so real on stage and screen, 7 p.m., July 16. Bob Dotson, former NBC National News correspondent, will host a lecture on storytelling, 7 p.m., July 19.
