Thomas J. Ebert, retired Fresno State librarian and administrator, recently donated the 3,000th volume toward the Thomas J. Ebert American Frontier Collection at the Henry Madden Library.
Ebert has been donating books to this collection since 1993. The volume selected as his 3,000th gift is “Provisions of the Fur Trade” (v. 6 of the Encyclopedia of the Fur Trade) published by the Museum of the Fur Trade, Chadron, Nebraska.
Ebert’s donations over the years have helped position the Madden Library’s Western Americana collection as the most prominent in the California State University system.
“A student or researcher will discover that there are many paths to knowledge available in the Madden Library,” said Del Hornbuckle, dean of library services. “By availing themselves of the opportunities provided by the library, students will come to a better understanding of how the world they live in has been shaped for better or worse, and how they can contribute to improving the world. We certainly encourage others to consider the importance of the Madden Library to our region, and to participate in supporting its future growth.”
