Randa Jarrar, Fresno State associate professor of English and author, won an American Book Award for her latest book, “Him, Me, Muhammad Ali.” The award, one of six presented this year by the nonprofit Before Columbus Foundation, recognizes outstanding contributions to diversity in American literature. Previous recipients of the award include Toni Morrison, Louise Erdrich and Sherman Alexie. Jarrar’s book of stories, published in 2016 by Sarabande Books, won the Story Prize Spotlight Award earlier this year.
