The Henry Madden Library at Fresno State continues the sixth season of its Noontime

Concert Series with a performance by Cerro Negro at 12:10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, in the Table Mountain Rancheria Reading Room.

Cerro Negro is a flamenco global fusion group from Fresno that created its style by coupling traditional elements of flamenco guitar with Caribbean percussion and passionate vocals.

The group has played concerts across the country over the past 18 years, sharing the stage with artists such as Eddie Palmieri, Aurturo Sandoval and Poncho Sanchez. The group has self-recorded six albums and tours and performs school presentations and corporate events. In a world becoming ever more electrified and amplified, Cerro Negro reaches back to an acoustic era, rediscovering music of the past from all parts of the globe.

On Friday, Dec. 2, the series continues with a performance by Dr. Corey Whitehead, who will be performing from his new album. Whitehead, of Fresno State’s Department of Music, is the artistic director and coordinator for the Noontime Concert Series.

Seating is limited and parking is restricted. Parking permits can be obtained from a parking kiosk on campus.
