Denise Barnes, a Fresno State sophomore political science major from Delano, was crowned Miss Fresno County 2014 at the annual pageant in Fresno’s Tower Theatre on March 15. Barnes, 21, aspires to pursue a military career in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. She is now preparing for the Miss California Pageant, June 28 at the William Saroyan Theatre in Fresno. Her pageant platform is “S.O.S.” (Support Our Soldiers), and she is seeking community support and recognition for the military men and women who serve and sacrifice. She succeeds Elizabeth Farr, who also was a Fresno State student when she was crowned Miss Fresno County last year. Elise Barco 16, a student at University High School on the Fresno State campus, was selected Fresno’s Most Outstanding Teen.
