The Fresno Iris Society and Fresno State Nursery will hold their annual rhizome fundraiser and plant sale 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 10, at the university’s Horticulture Building (3150 E. Barstow Ave., east of Chestnut Avenue).

In addition to iris rhizomes, houseplants, shrubs, perennials, drought tolerant plants, trees and fruit trees will be on sale at the free, public event.

Funds generated from the sale of rhizomes will benefit the Fresno Iris Society’s efforts to promote interest in irises. The society will have a variety of iris, including redblooming and other unique varieties. Members will be holding workshops throughout the day and be on hand to answer any questions.

Potted irises will sell for $6 and rhizomes $3. Iris experts will conduct ongoing demonstrations on dividing iris clumps.

Plants grown with student involvement also will be available at a reduced price through the Fresno State Nursery. Nursery staff and horticulture students will be available to answer gardening and plant-related questions.
